The Ambassador of the EU Office in Pristina, Tomas Szunyog, has stated that the issue of membership in the Council of Europe does not depend on the European Union, but on the member states of the Council of Europe, which, according to him, set the conditions for Kosovo to become a member. .

Szunyog did not want to comment on whether the association is a condition for Kosovo's entry into the European organization.

The non-inclusion of Kosovo in the Council of Europe agenda comes after the letter of the three European leaders sent to Prime Minister Albin Kurti through which the association is requested as a condition for the country's membership in the Council of Europe.

German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni and French President Emmanuel Macron said in the letter that "there is a real risk that without decisive progress of the association, Kosovo's application to the Council of Europe will not receive sufficient support from member states".
