Today, the implementation of the decision of the Ministry of Internal Affairs to convert the driver's license of the illegal Serbian structures into the driver's license issued by the state of the Republic of Kosovo has started. So far, 29 people have applied and this number, according to officials, is expected to increase in the coming days.

The decision to convert driver's licenses is considered fair by safety and traffic experts. The chief executive officer at the Civil Registration Agency, Blerim Camaj, told KosovaPress over the phone that today 29 citizens have applied for driver's license conversion.

Security professor, Avni Islami, in a statement for KosovaPress, said that Serbian citizens should respond positively to this decision, while adding that driver's licenses issued by illegal structures in Serbia should be confiscated.

The traffic expert, Bekim Ahmeti, says that Serbian citizens should not be exempted from paying for the conversion of driver's licenses, as in the case of changing license plates, but they should also pay like any other citizen of Kosovo.

Otherwise, all Serbian citizens who possess a driver's license issued by illegal Serbian structures can apply for an official driver's license of the Republic of Kosovo on the Driver's License website (rks-gov.net) or even physically at the Document Equipment Center in all municipalities of Kosovo. This process will last until August 9 of this year.

In case of physical appearance for application at the counters of the Centers for Equipment with Documents, citizens must possess the identity card of the Republic of Kosovo, the original driver's license issued by the Serbian authorities, the health certificate for equipment with a driver's license, health certificates issued by health institutions licensed by the Ministry of Health of Kosovo, throughout the territory of Kosovo.

The price for a health certificate varies by the category of the vehicle for which the driver's license is held and as follows: for category B/BE the price of the health certificate is 20 euros, for category C and category D the price of the health certificate is 50 euros. Proof of payment of the tax, the value of which is 15.00 euros, and the original driver's license issued by UNMIK or RKS if the application is made for the addition of categories, which is also made possible through this decision of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.

The procedure for equipment with a Kosovo driver's license lasts 15 days. The driver's license issued by the Serbian structures is returned to the applicant as an invalid document and the same is provided with the Kosovo driver's license. /Z. Zeneli/
