Private sector union warns of protest, demands wage increase

The Trade Union Federation of Private Sector Workers of Kosovo has warned of a strike and protests from March 1 if their demand for a wage increase for workers who provide services to central and municipal institutions is not met. This was announced by the president of this union, Jusuf Azemi, who stressed that the wage increase should be equal, as has happened with the public sector, whose wages have increased by 55 euros as of this month.
In an extraordinary meeting held by the Federation of Private Sector Workers, Azemi stated that this sector has been discriminated against by the state for some time, while adding that on Sunday, election day, they will be more "careful" about who they vote for.

"We are pleased for the allocation of funds of 55 euros for public sector workers, and we want to let them know that we as workers that provide these services, are equal, we are workers who are paid from the Kosovo budget, the municipal budget. The very fact that we have elections on Sunday, we will be a little more careful, otherwise in the first week after the elections, we will make a decision to go on strike and hold protests, because our right must be realized…
