The absence of the Minister of Infrastructure, Liburn Aliu to report to the Committee for Oversight of Public Finances has caused the MPs of the position and the opposition to clash in Tuesday's meeting. The members of the committee from the opposition considered the absence of Minister Aliu a great irresponsibility, as they said for the second time in a row, until they assessed it as disturbing, and even invited the prosecution to investigate single-source contracts in the Ministry of Environment, Spatial Planning and Infrastructure. On the other hand, the majority MPs justified the absence of Minister Aliu, however, emphasized that if he does not come next week, they will send the report for consideration in the plenary session.

The chairperson of the committee, LDK MP, Hykmete Bajrami, said that also based on the Country Report from the EU, it was pointed out that more than 20 percent of public procurement contracts are single-source tenders.

However, the VV MP, Mirlinda Tishukaj-Sadiku, said that the audit report is important and should be discussed in the presence of Minister Aliu.

The PDK MP, Rashit Qalaj, was more critical, who said that based on the report, the weaknesses in the system are clearly seen in terms of the management of road construction works, as well as, as he said, the legitimacy that is being done to the misuse of public money.

On the other hand, the other VV MP, Halil Thaçi, asked not to hold a public trial for Minister Aliu, but to wait for next week, when he is present, to clarify all the ambiguities.

However, PDK MP Hajdar Beqa reacted to him, who invited the prosecution to receive this report and, as he said, to prosecute Minister Aliu for all the abuses in the department he leads.

After the debate, the members of the committee agreed to invite Minister Aliu again for a report on February 27. /KosovaPress/
