The Prime Minister of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, today pledged to stand by the municipalities affected by the floods.

At the government meeting on Wednesday, he said that they are assessing the damage caused, but also asked for an investigation into the illegal actions to the detriment of the ecosystem.

Kurti: We will stand by the municipalities affected by the floods

"The damage is great, while the danger has not passed completely. The reaction of the state institutions has been fast, the solidarity with each other has been great. Fortunately the consequences are only material. As a government, from the first moment we have been helping the citizens in the areas flooded by water... We will always stand by the municipalities, families, businesses and citizens from the affected areas. Help from the Government will not be missing for a moment. Skenderaj, Mitrovica, Klina, Istog and Podujeva, together, will rise", he emphasized.

Kurti added that in addition to repairing the damage caused, the causes of these floods must also be dealt with, which according to him are the damage to the banks and river beds from the wild exploitation of gravel, the dumping of waste in the rivers and the illegal cutting of forests.
