Kosovo's application for EU membership; Kurti: It’s a historic day for our people

The Prime Minister of the Republic of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, submitted the application of Kosovo to the European Union to the Czech Presidency of the Council of the European Union. The head of the executive has stated that it is a historic day for the people of Kosovo and that our country does not need an acceleration nor a back door for European integration, but added that with work and dedication, even the skeptics will change their mind.

Kurti in Prague, Czech Republic, first held a bilateral meeting with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic, Jan Lipavsky. Then, he was received by the Minister for European Affairs of the Czech Republic, Mikulas Bek, to whom he submitted the application.

Kurti said that Kosovo has signed the Stabilization and Association Agreement six years ago and that 50 percent of it has been already implemeneted.

The head of the executive added that the European Union is the destination that Kosovo is aiming for.
