The Kosovo Police has introduced the "Smart Patrol", devices that will identify speed, unregistered vehicles, persons who are wanted and other offenses in road traffic. Through these devices it will be possible to issue fines digitally. Law enforcement in Kosovo will start using these devices from today, but traffic stops by the police will continue until the technology is fully connected to the database. The Director of the Kosovo Police, Samedin Mehmeti, presenting the "Smart Patrol" has admitted that the situation in road traffic is not good, while he has emphasized the importance of digitizing traffic. He said that these devices identify speeding, unregistered vehicles, people or license plates that are wanted, negative points as well as enable the imposition of fines electronically which are then mailed to offenders.
