In a solemn session, the Municipal Assembly of Obilic remembers the victims of the war in Kosovo

In honor of February 17, the Independence Day of Kosovo, the Municipality of Obilic has organized several activities.

Initially, homage was paid near the Memorial Plaque of the Martyrs of the Nation in Obilic, while a solemn session was also organized in honor of this day.

The Mayor of Obilic, Xhafer Gashi, was present at the homage.

While the solemn session was attended by the Deputy Mayor of the Municipality Ibush Mjekiqi, members of the Municipal Assembly and representatives from the Islamic Community. This meeting began with a minute of silence for the fallen of the last war in Kosovo.

Deputy Mayor Ibush Mjekiqi during this session said that the Jashari family is a symbol of heroism for freedom.

“We are gathered here to mark the 17th anniversary of the declaration of independence. A sacred moment for all of us. On this day, we remember the difficult journey of the people that we have experienced for centuries. In this journey, the Jashari family is a symbol of heroism for our freedom, their sacrifice became the foundation of independence. Today, we are committed to building a strong Kosovo,” he said.

After the solemn session, the Municipal Assembly will meet for a central event at the "Xhavit Haziri" House of Culture.
