Criticizing the Special Court, Haxhiu talks about the mechanism that would monitor the implementation of human rights

The Special Court is being criticized in Kosovo for non-transparency, delay in the release of materials, as well as procrastination of the preliminary procedure. These are considered to be infringing on the rights of the accused who are being held in custody since the fall of 2020. There has even been a discussion about the establishment of an international mechanism that would monitor the implementation of human rights, about which talks the Minister of Justice, Albulena Haxhiu, for KosovaPress.

Last year, this court imposed the first sentence under the allegation of war crimes, and another for obstructing the administration of justice. While there are two cases which are still waiting to start the trial phase.
