It is learned that there is a large number of complaints from citizens to KESCO about high electricity bills, although KESCO has not responded to KosovaPress regarding the number of complaints and their nature. Meanwhile, the Office of the Energy Regulator received 57 complaints for the month of December last year.

Citizens expressed their displeasure about the bills of the last month of 2023. According to them, the same bills did not arrive in a fair way, since, as they say, they did not consume electricity for the amount billed.

For this issue, the Assembly of Kosovo, today (Thursday) will hold an extraordinary session on the price of electricity, at the request of the opposition parties, which demand the reduction of the price of energy and the removal of block tariffs.

Citizen Xhevrie Saliuka expresses her frustration with the high amount of the electricity bill for December. She announces a complaint to KESCO because, as she says, she did not consume as much electricity as was billed. According to her, the additional 100 euros allocated by the Government "are the same that should pay the bills".

Another citizen, Ladi Murraj, also complains that electricity prices during the month of December were high. While he was waiting at KESCO, he says that his wife came in to pay and to ask for clarification, as according to him, the price is high.

Nexhat Xharra also complains about high prices, according to whom the current for the month of December was twice as high as November last year.

Meanwhile, the Energy Regulator Office (ERO) in a written response to KosovaPress, announced that the number of complaints for December last year's bills is a total of 57.

They have also clarified what the procedures and complaints are. In the announcement of ERO, it is stated that consumers should get the answer from KESCO and then go to ERO.

"The number of complaints received for the invoices of December 2023 is 57. In accordance with the procedure for resolving complaints in the Energy Sector, all consumers who have complaints regarding the services provided by the supplier or system operators, initially must submit these complaints to the supplier before seeking review by the Regulator. Every supplier or system operator is obliged to respond to all consumer complaints in an efficient and fair manner", says the response from ERO.

The same ones add that they will review every complaint received in accordance with the provisions foreseen in the procedure for the issue of complaints in the energy sector.

"After receiving the answer from the supplier, consumers can submit a complaint to the Department for Consumer Protection of the Regulator. ERO will review any complaint received in accordance with the provisions provided in the procedure for resolving complaints in the energy sector. Prices applied are those that have been decided by the Board of ERO", says the written response from ERO.

Regarding this issue, KosovaPress has also sent questions to KESCO, but until the publication of this article, they have not returned an answer.
