The Special Prosecutor’s Office (SPO) in The Hague announced that Alex Whiting succeeds the current chief prosecutor, Jack Smith, after the latter was appointed in the US on November 18 as a special prosecutor for criminal investigations into the possession of classified documents at the Mar-a-Lago on the part of former president Donald Trump and on his role in the riots of January 6, 2021, in the American Congress.
