Construction work on the Zatriq Wind Park in the Rahovec municipality is nearing completion, with the project expected to become operational in July this year. The joint investment by “Çalık Renewables” and Eurokos, worth around €110 million, aims to significantly increase Kosovo’s clean energy production capacity, reports KosovaPress.
The project has an installed capacity of 70 megawatts and is expected to produce around 185 gigawatt-hours of electricity per year, covering the needs of approximately 45,000 households. The wind park consists of 12 wind turbines, each with a capacity of 6.1 MW, with a hub height of 120 meters and a total height of up to 199 meters. At the peak of construction, around 175 workers were employed, most of them local.
During a visit to Zatriq, the acting Prime Minister Albin Kurti emphasized the importance of natural conditions for renewable energy production, highlighting the wind potential in the area.
He added that such projects demonstrate an improved investment climate in the country and the creation of favorable conditions for foreign investors in the renewable energy sector.
Acting Minister of Economy Artane Rizvanolli said the project is progressing according to plan and that part of the turbines have already been installed.
Meanwhile, CEO of “Çalık Renewables” Emre Erdoğan emphasized the strategic importance of energy for economic development and long-term partnerships.
Project Director Savaş Demirden also provided technical details on the progress of construction and project logistics.
This project is considered an important step toward increasing renewable energy capacity in Kosovo, contributing to energy security, reducing import dependency, and protecting the environment.
