For the second time, the Vetëvendosje Movement is attempting to form a government, this time with Glauk Konjufca as the proposed prime minister. The nominee from Vetëvendosje, Glauk Konjufca, after being proposed by the LVV leader, Albin Kurti, said in his speech that Vetëvendosje has made its own compromise by proposing a government where Albin Kurti is not the prime minister. According to him, it is now the opposition’s turn to make a compromise.
Konjufca stated that this proposal, in which Kurti is not at the helm, represents a very significant compromise for Vetëvendosje, emphasizing that they cannot go further than this.
“I know that in any serious, developed state, the government and opposition manage to build some common goals for the sake of the general interest of citizens and the country, and precisely now, this is the moment in Kosovo. Vetëvendosje is making its compromise; more than this is not possible. We are proposing a government where Albin Kurti is not the prime minister, and this is a very significant compromise for LVV. Now it is the opposition’s turn to make its compromise,” said Konjufca.
Furthermore, Konjufca said that he humbly accepts this responsibility in order to serve the public interest, vote on the 2026 budget, and avoid the possibility of two elections within three months.
“With humility and obligation, I must accept this nomination by the General Council for prime minister. I do this as a duty, which turns us into servants of the public interest. What is the deepest interest of our people and state in the situation we are in? Vetëvendosje has defined this in two pillars under the current circumstances. First, avoiding two possible elections within three months, and second, voting on the 2026 budget, without which the vital dimensions of our citizens are at risk,” said Konjufca.
He also addressed the current prime minister, Albin Kurti, with a few words.
Konjufca said that in his view, the problem is that while Kurti has brought joy to the people, he has simultaneously instilled fear among political opponents, who, according to him, have united to prevent the formation of the Kurti 3 Government.
“Kurti is the most voted person in the history of parliamentary elections in Kosovo. The problem is that as much as you have brought joy to the people with all this support, you have also instilled a lot of fear in political opponents, who united with the goal of preventing you from forming a government for the third time,” he added.
Konjufca called on all political parties to vote for the government with the new nominee. On October 26, in an extraordinary session of the Kosovo Assembly, the formation of the Kurti 3 Government with Albin Kurti as prime minister had failed.
