“The State Prosecutor, captured by VV,” the Social Democratic Party described today’s action in front of the office of the State Prosecutor.
PSD leader Dardan Molliqaj sharply criticized Lëvizja Vetëvendosje, saying that the party has captured the Kosovo Prosecutorial Council. Molliqaj said this is a strategic move by VV to control the process of appointing the chief prosecutor and recruiting prosecutors.
He warned that electing a president aligned with VV could legitimize this control and also influence the appointment of judges to the Constitutional Court.
Molliqaj called on society and institutions to react in order to protect the independence of justice institutions.
“The main reason Albin Kurti wants his own president is to select the chief prosecutor for seven years. The prosecution body is lacking; it is not just the police that are not performing, but the prosecution is also needed,” he said.
