Protests against power cuts

Protests against power cuts

Today, starting at 13:00, a protest will be held against the power cuts. The protest will start in front of the KEDS building to continue in front of the Government building. The protesters will demand a regular supply of electricity and the dismissal of Minister Artane Rizvanolli.

The Government of Kosovo is constantly calling on the citizens to save electricity, while it has announced that it will allocate the necessary amount of funds to cover imports. The Ministry of Economy has announced that it is drafting the Energy Strategy for the years 2022-2031. This strategy is said to analyze all potential and financially viable scenarios to increase the stability of electricity supply, as well as provide the opportunity for greater integration of renewable energy sources. Kosovo produces up to 85 percent of its electricity through coal-fired power plants and very small amounts from renewable sources, such as hydropower plants, wind farms and photovoltaic panels.
