Lecture by the Special Court at “Xhevdet Doda,” Rama: I was outraged, there will be punitive measures

The Mayor of Prishtina, Përparim Rama, expressed outrage over the activity of the Special Court held at “Xhevdet Doda” High School, which, according to him, took place without any permission or coordination with the Education Directorate or his office. Rama has warned that punitive measures will be taken against those responsible.

Meanwhile, the Education Directorate said that a team has already been sent to the school to gather more information, while the Parents’ Council has voiced concern over activities that, according to them, undermine the integrity and sensitivity of the students.

Mayor of Prishtina Përparim Rama said he is extremely outraged by an activity carried out without permission or coordination with the Education Directorate or his office.

He stated that such actions are unacceptable in the capital.

“I was very outraged by what happened because there was neither permission nor coordination with anyone, not even the directorate, meaning not even my office. Therefore, we decided to take immediate measures. I immediately discussed this with the director, with Samir, and we took immediate actions. So, whoever allowed this to happen without permission or coordination will naturally face punitive measures. In fact, I am extremely outraged by what happened. This should never happen in our institutions in the capital or anywhere else. Without an agreement or permission from the Education Directorate or my office,” he said.

When asked whether the director of “Xhevdet Doda” High School will be dismissed, Rama said he will leave that decision to the Education Directorate in the municipality.

“I leave this to the director of education and the legal processes, but I assure you that such things are unacceptable, they are not allowed in the capital, especially when they involve highly sensitive matters. As such, we have taken immediate measures through the Education Directorate, based on the laws in force,” he said.

Director of Education in the Municipality of Prishtina, Samir Shahini, said that depending on the information received from the team already at the school, measures will be taken.

“As we speak, a team from the Education Directorate is already at the school gathering complete information, reviewing documentation and everything else that led to such an activity, without permission and, as the mayor said, without notifying the directorate or his office. Based on the official report that will be issued today, at the latest by Monday, we will take measures according to procedures and the law in force,” he said.

Chairman of the Parents’ Council in the Municipality of Prishtina, Nexhmi Hoxha, opposes any lecture that undermines the integrity of children. He calls for more caution regarding such lectures.“Naturally, anything that undermines the integrity of our children, we are against. I believe there should have been coordination with the Education Directorate, as well as notification to the School Board, which I think made this decision. We call on the Education Directorate and school directors, as well as organizations that come to hold lectures in various forms, to exercise caution, to ensure they are aware of what they are offering to our children,” he said.
