Kosovo Police warning: Fraudulent messages are draining citizens’ bank accounts

The Regional Directorate in Prizren has announced a concerning phenomenon that is directly endangering the financial security of citizens.

According to the Police, various citizens have received fraudulent text messages informing them that their bank accounts will be blocked unless they take immediate action. These messages include a suspicious link where recipients are asked to enter their personal and banking details.

The statement explains that once this information is entered, unauthorized individuals gain access to the bank accounts and unlawfully obtain financial funds, effectively draining the victims’ accounts.

The Police urge citizens not to open suspicious links received via SMS or applications, not to share passwords or security codes, and to remain vigilant toward any unknown communication.

Furthermore, the Police state that any suspected case should be reported immediately to security institutions.

The Kosovo Police emphasize that they remain committed to protecting citizens and combating illegal activities.
