The Chief Prosecutor of the Special Prosecution of Kosovo, Blerim Isufaj, did not comment on the statement made by the Acting President of Kosovo, Albulena Haxhiu, regarding the announcement of the competition for the State Chief Prosecutor.
Among other things, he said that he does not fall under anyone’s influence, KosovaPress reports.
At a press conference where Isufaj announced recent operations of the Special Prosecution, he was asked by media about the Acting President’s statement.
Isufaj said such questions should be addressed to the Kosovo Prosecutorial Council, adding that he chooses not to comment on anyone’s political statements.
“These are questions you can address to the Kosovo Prosecutorial Council. I do not comment on anyone’s political statements, I do not fall under anyone’s influence,” Isufaj said.
The Acting President of Kosovo, Albulena Haxhiu, commented on the announcement of the competition for the State Chief Prosecutor on the Presidency’s social media.
According to her, this move by the Kosovo Prosecutorial Council restores the possibility of a regular, transparent, and merit-based process, where the most competent candidate with high professional integrity is selected to lead the Prosecution.
“It is important that the entire process is conducted in an impartial, credible manner and free from any political influence or narrow interests, so that the most competent candidate with high professional integrity is selected as head of the State Prosecution,” Haxhiu said.
