Businesses operating in the Municipality of Ferizaj held a protest today to express their dissatisfaction with the way the project “Expansion of the Entrance Road to Ferizaj” is being carried out. The project is being implemented by the Ministry of Environment, Spatial Planning and Infrastructure (MESP), as reported by KosovaPress.
They stated that not only have the businesses been left uninformed about the project, but even the Municipality of Ferizaj has not received any information from the Ministry.
A representative of the businesses, Muharrem Mehmeti, said that the lack of access to the highway has hindered the economic development of the area.
He also mentioned that they contacted the company allegedly responsible for the project, but were told it is not their project as it lacks their stamp and signature, raising further concerns.
Meanwhile, Kenan Gashi, executive director at AVONET, said they had requested access to the project from the MESP but have yet to receive a response.
Gashi also expressed doubts about how the project is being carried out, as the municipality is not involved at all and has not been informed.
Lawyer Leutrim Himaj, who is handling the case, added that they have submitted a request to halt the works, citing a recent preliminary decision on the expropriation of the area, which remains unclear to the businesses.
So far, the businesses have filed two lawsuits — one with the Basic Court in Prishtina, in the administrative matters department, and another with the Supreme Court.
