The ambassadors of Kosovo’s friendly states witnessed the 52nd failed attempt to constitute the Assembly of Kosovo.
The Assembly attempted to form the committee for a secret ballot to elect the Speaker, but this committee failed, and the next session was scheduled for tomorrow at 14:00, reports KosovaPress.
After the session ended, ambassadors were seen leaving the Assembly hall visibly disappointed.
The British Ambassador to Kosovo, Jonathan Hargreaves, in a Facebook post, called on political leaders to reach a consensus by tomorrow to overcome this situation.
“Today diplomatic representatives of Kosovo’s friends observed the 52nd consecutive failure to constitute the Assembly. I urge Kosovo’s politicians to come together and find a solution to end the deadlock before the Constitutional Court’s deadline ends tomorrow. Otherwise Kosovo is entering unchartered territory and its citizens continue to lose out on meaningful political representation and the ability to take crucial domestic and international decisions which affect citizens’ lives,” he wrote.
