The Speaker of the Assembly of Kosovo, Dimal Basha, together with representatives of the Vetëvendosje Movement and acting ministers, paid tribute at the “Adem Jashari” Memorial Complex in Prekaz.
After the tribute, he stated that this day is sacred and unites all Albanians.
“Today we celebrate Flag Day, an exceptionally sacred day that unites Albanians everywhere, beyond any border, beyond any ocean. Today, in glorious Prekaz, we also celebrate the sacred day when our national hero, Gjergj Kastrioti Skanderbeg, raised the flag in Lezha in 1443. Today we celebrate Independence Day and the raising of the two flags in Vlora. Today we also celebrate the public emergence of the Kosovo Liberation Army by our hero Mujë Krasniqi, General Daut Haradinaj, and our general and colleague Rexhep Selimi. And today we also celebrate the birthday of Adem Jashari, the legendary commander of the Kosovo Liberation Army. This is a day of celebrations for Albanians everywhere; it is a sacred day for us. That is why citizens from all regions, including from the diaspora, come to celebrate here in glorious Prekaz, one of the most sacred places in the Albanian territories. Let us always remain united,” Basha declared.
At the “Adem Jashari” Memorial Complex in Prekaz rest the bodies of the Jashari family, who were killed on March 5, 6, and 7, 1998. November 28 marks the public emergence of the Kosovo Liberation Army, the independence of Albania, and the birthday of the legendary commander, Adem Jashari.
