Pensioners in Albania will receive an additional 100 million euros next year, on top of the regular indexing.
In a video message, following the release of the European Commission’s progress report for Albania and a press conference with the EU Ambassador, Silvio Gonzato, Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama emphasized that pensioners would receive a significant portion of the 2026 draft budget, which has just been sent to parliament. For next year, pensioners will benefit from an extra 100 million euros, in addition to the standard indexing.
“Without a doubt, pensioners will take up a large part of the 2026 budget, with 100 million euros in additional funds, beyond the indexing. In 2027, we will double that amount to 200 million euros, plus 45 million euros in indexing. In 2028, we will triple it to 300 million euros, plus 46 million euros in indexing. In 2029, it will quadruple to 400 million euros, plus 47 million euros in indexing. And by 2030, we will quintuple it to 500 million euros, plus 48 million euros in indexing. These are billions more that pensioners will receive back during our mandate,” Rama emphasized.
He also mentioned that starting January next year, the minimum wage will increase to 500 euros, and by the end of the mandate, it will rise to 700 euros.
“But starting from January, the minimum wage will be raised, and people will receive the promised amount of 500 euros. The minimum wage will reach 700 euros by the end of the mandate. We will also subsidize, for a 9-month period, with 90 million euros, the additional cost of insurance in the private sector. We say what we do and do what we say. Those 83 mandates that you gave us are 83 more reasons than before not to sleep, to work non-stop, and to return to you with all our passion everything you gave us with extraordinary trust,” Rama said in a video message on Facebook.
The draft budget for 2026 in Albania is considered the largest in the country’s history, expected to reach 9 billion euros, about 1 billion euros more than in 2025.
