Mufti Tërnava in his address for the beginning of Ramadan appeals for the preservation of the family

The Mufti of the Islamic Community of Kosovo, Naim Tërnava, addressed the community on the occasion of the beginning of the holy month of Ramadan.

He said that fasting Ramadan ennobles the believer and increases the feeling of solidarity.

“Through fasting, the Muslim believer aims to be more pious, more devoted, sensitive, rational, humane and tolerant in relation to himself, family, community and society in general. In addition to fasting Ramadan, this special worship of God ennobles the believer and makes him more patient, close and sincere,” he said.

Tërnava also appealed for the preservation of the family, according to him, as God created it, with two genders.

“And on the issue of the family, allow me on this great night, on the eve of the blessed month of Ramadan, to appeal to all of us, to engage in its preservation and proper education, as it has our Creator, Almighty God created and commanded us. He created the human race as such, with two genders and certain missions, so much so that no act or decision can replace the role of mother with father, nor of father with mother. Therefore, in this month of mercy, worship and solidarity, in this month of Ramadan, I call you all to be close to the family, to protect the family and to keep it on the pedestal. Because, when the family is healthy, the society is also healthy and thus our future is safe “, added Tërnava.

Asked by journalists, Tërnava also spoke about the ban of veil in a school in Gjakova.

He said that this case is isolated, as he asked the Ministry of Education to repeal the administrative instruction that prohibits girls with veils from attending school.

“I do not want to believe that this was done with a specific purpose, on the eve of the holy and blessed month of Ramadan. I do not want to believe that it was done with any specific purpose, it was probably a mistake, because in no way can weapons, alcohol and other negative things compare to the veil. Given that the veil is an obligation that comes from God and which should be respected and honored. Therefore, I am glad that the person in charge of education in the Municipality of Gjakova has reacted in time and this case remains isolated. ICK has condemned such cases and will continue to do so… We ask the MEST to repeal the administrative instruction that was written with great urgency and irresponsibility in relation to the prohibition of veil and violating the rights in public schools,” said Terrnava.

The month of Ramadan begins tomorrow, April 2, during which Muslim believers fast for 30 days.
