Today marks one year since the first person who died as a result of the infectious disease coronavirus was registered in Kosovo. The National Institute of Public Health had announced that it was an 82-year-old patient from Dumnica, Podujeva. The first two positive cases of coronavirus in Kosovo were registered in March 2020, while so far this number has reached 82,185, of which 68,083 have been cured, there are 12,342 active cases and 1,760 patients have lost the battle with the infectious disease. The presence of the new coronavirus was first confirmed in late December 2019 in China and then spread to other parts of the world, prompting the World Health Organization to declare a pandemic, which continues today worldwide regardless of the vaccination. Kosovo is one of the few countries that has not yet received any vaccine against COVID-19, while the first Kosovar doctors are being vaccinated in Kukes, Albania.
