The Academy of Sciences and Arts of Kosovo was established in 1975, initially as the Association of Sciences and Arts of Kosovo, and in 1978 it was transformed into an Academy.

The Association was transformed into the Academy of Sciences and Arts of Kosovo through the Law on the Establishment of the Academy of Sciences and Arts of Kosovo, issued by the Assembly of Kosovo on April 18, 1978.
