33 indictments against 89 people for war crimes in Kosovo

The Special Prosecution of the Republic of Kosovo (SPRK) has filed 33 indictments involving 89 people for war crimes in Kosovo. Meanwhile, for the Meja massacre case, 53 indictments structured in three parts have been filed so far. Meanwhile, for the Dubrava massacre, 88 defendants are under investigation. This was said in a press conference by the prosecutors of the Special Prosecution.

The Chief Prosecutor of the Special Prosecution, Blerim Isufaj, said that they will continue to work in the investigation and prosecution of all cases related to war crimes. He added that justice will work for everyone, regardless of nationality.

Meanwhile, prosecutor Drita Hajdari said that in the case of the massacre of Meja, 53 people are included in the indictment, adding that the indictment is structured in three parts.

Hajdari emphasized that the first part included the group of five defendants who planned the massacre, the second part included 11 defendants who, in cooperation with the first group, drew up the plan. Meanwhile, she added that the third part includes 37 defendants, who, according to her, are direct executors who committed the massacre or contributed to it.

Among other things, the prosecutor Drita Hajdari also spoke about the case of the murders in the village of Reka e Keqe, in Gjakova, while emphasizing that the investigation of the special prosecution proves that at the end of April 1999, a systematic operation of the Yugoslav army and the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Serbia, accompanied by paramilitary groups. She emphasized that 370 civilians were killed in this operation.

Meanwhile, the prosecutor, Ilir Morina, said that in the case of the massacre of Dubrava, 88 defendants are under investigation, adding that this investigation has been going on for a long time.

He emphasized that a defendant is in custody, while emphasizing that the massacre of Dubrava does not end with this indictment, but that they are gathering the facts and proceeding with the other evidence.

Meanwhile, at this conference, the chief prosecutor, Blerim Isufaj, had some questions from journalists, which were related to his position and regarding the initiation of the inclusion of Milan Radojicic and his group in the Interpol list, but he did not give an answer.

Isufaj was asked if the Special Prosecution has a shortage of prosecutors dealing with war crimes, for which he said he hopes that this number will increase in the future. /Z. Zeneli/
