The Chamber of Doing Business in Kosovo (CDBK) in a letter addressed to the Prime Minister of the Republic of Kosovo Albin Kurti, once again requested that the use of Serbian IP addresses by local operators be addressed, in order to be used the Albanian ones. Regarding the use of Serbian IP addresses, representatives of the CDBK on 02 August 2021, held a meeting with representatives of the Regulatory Authority for Electronic and Postal Communications (RAEPC), and also sent letters proving that local operators, are using Serbian IP addresses. Considering that Kosovo currently does not have the right to possess the internet code (ccTLD), the request of the CDBK remains the regulation of the problem of providers and the elimination of the use of the Serbian and Montenegrin IP addresses, and to be replaced once and for all with those of Albania. According to the CDBK, the non-regulation of IP Addresses, although delegated now and for some time, still remains a problem for businesses and specifically for the media sector which is facing their non-regulation. The CDBK considers that in this case, in addition to the losses that are being caused to businesses, another problem remains the damage to the image of our country, because instead of presenting the state of Kosovo when we search in the link "What's my IP address", the Serbian, Montenegrin state or any of the other countries in the region pops out. The answer we have received from RAEPC is that they have taken the steps they have the right to take to resolve this situation. Among which, they addressed a letter to the providers of promotional content regarding the language of promotional advertisements displayed on our web portals and also met with some of the main internet operators in Kosovo ", it is said in a press release of the CDBK. In order for this issue not to stop at this point, but to continue its treatment, the Chamber of Doing Business in Kosovo asked the Prime Minister to seriously address the request for the regulation of IP addresses in the shortest possible time, considering that this issue is causing material and national damage to Kosovo and businesses.
