The disappointing result of the 2022 PISA test was expected due to serious lack of efforts in the education system by the Ministry of Education in Kosovo, which the current government should take as an additional alarm and deal seriously with this situation.

This is what the education expert and former Deputy Minister of Education, Dukagjin Pupovci, has assessed, who said that the level of education is based on three parties, the Ministry of Education, schools and parents.

According to him, the students are the last party who should be blamed for a low level of the PISA test.

Pupovci, in an interview for KosovaPress, said that the ministry should improve the organization and accountability for every educational result. He added that parents should also develop a cooperation with schools and their children.

According to him, students are a product of the Ministry of Education and schools. Pupovci has assessed that in Kosovo there is a big difference between public and private schools, even though the teachers are the same.

Kosovo is ranked among the last in the three tests of the international student assessment program, PISA. It is ranked 74th in math - the main area on the test - and 76th in reading. Kosovo has suffered a drop in performance by 11 points less, compared to the 2018 tests.

The test is conducted with 15-year-old students from 80 different countries, organized by the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), while it measures students' abilities in reading, science and mathematics.
