On the occasion of the start of the dual education pilot, the Prime Minister of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, together with the Minister of Education, Science, Technology and Innovation, Arbërie Nagavci, visited the "Shtjefën Gjeçovi" vocational high school in Prishtina.

During the visit to the "Shtjefën Gjeçovi" Competence Center and the implementing partner business, the key role of education and professional training in the sustainable economic growth and development of Kosovo was emphasized, the press release states.

Dual education has begun to be piloted for the first time from this school year 2022/2023 with five classes of 10th grade students, in the programs: hairdresser, cook, hotel hospitality assistant and mason. Unlike the previous model, from this school year young people will have the opportunity, during the three years of schooling, to spend more than half of their time in real workplaces.

This initiative aims to close the skills gap by preparing students with appropriate skills that respond to market demands and was initiated by MESTI with the support of the Besa foundation and in cooperation with representatives of local enterprises and donors.
