Head of UNICEF office, Murat Sahin said “We know that, help is needed fast. UNICEF Kosovo has been able to react quickly, delivering lifesaving preventative supplies to front line health workers even when logistics are exceptionally challenging. We will continue to support creative means so that young person and child in Kosovo overcomes challenges posed by COVID 19”.
While the number of cases continues to soar around the world, UNICEF’s life-saving work to provide children with health, education, nutrition and protection has never been more critical. We are fighting a new virus, debunking myths and battling misinformation. UNICEF is working to help prevent the spread of the virus. We are sharing accurate information on how to keep families safe, providing medical kits to health clinics and hygienic kits to families in need and mitigating the impact of the outbreak on children’s access to health, education and social services.
Since the start of the outbreak, UNICEF Kosovo Office has partnered with Red Cross of Kosovo and Municipal authorities on distribution of 12,000.00 family hygiene kits to the most in need families. Dissemination of the kits was closely coordinated with partners in identifying and supporting the families that live in extreme poverty and in most remote areas of Kosovo. The family hygiene kits were also distributed to Roma, Ashkali and Egyptian Communities and in municipalities populated by K-Serbian community.
UNICEF Kosovo Office is working with donors and partners to support and help children and families affected by the pandemic.
