Memorial for martyrs Naser Hajrizi and Asllan Pireva has been inaugurated

A memorial was inaugurated in honor of the first martyrs of the 1981 demonstrations, Naser Hajrizi and Asllan Pireva. During this ceremony, their sacrifices for the national cause were highly praised.

Fazli Veliu, former president of the LPK, said that the martyrs Naser Hajrizi and Asllan Pireva, through their actions, set an example of how to defend the homeland, by choosing the path of the great oath – freedom or death.

Shefik Sadiku, chairman of the Association of Political Prisoners, said that the path to freedom that the martyrs Hajrizi and Pireva started continued until the establishment of the Kosovo Liberation Army.

Bujar Hajrizi, the brother of martyr Naser Hajrizi, said that the martyrs knew the path to freedom was filled with sacrifices, but they never gave up.

The demonstrations of March 11 and 26, 1981, were a continuation of the ongoing efforts that began in the early days of the movement for freedom and national independence.

These events marked an important milestone in the efforts for the liberation of the Albanian people of Kosovo and other Albanian territories under former Yugoslavia. Just five days later, on April 1 and 2, the entire population expressed solidarity with the demonstrators’ demands.
