In the municipality of Hani i Elezit, two burglaries and one attempted burglary were reported on the evening of March 10 alone, during which mostly gold jewelry was stolen, with a total value of around 250,000 euros, the Police in Hani i Elezit confirmed.
The homeowner, Fadil Brava, from the village of Postenik in Hani i Elezit, told KosovaPress that during iftar time unknown individuals entered his house and his brother’s house, taking advantage of the family’s absence. According to him, gold jewelry, two hunting rifles and other items were stolen.
“The incident happened around iftar time at about 5:40 p.m., within roughly half an hour, 40 minutes.”
How did the individuals manage to enter your house?
“We were not at home. Both houses, my brother’s and mine, were broken into. I was at work at the restaurant, working there with my family. My wife was at my brother’s house, and they used that moment.”
So both houses were damaged?
“Yes, both… From my house they took two hunting rifles and my wife’s gold jewelry, basically everything she had.”
Approximately what was the value?
“I can’t really say the exact value. The hunting rifles are known, but for the gold I can’t say exactly.
Later the police carried out an inspection; traces can be seen where they walked, so now it remains up to them… We noticed the break-ins around 7 p.m. My brother was going to the mosque and informed me to call the police. We came back from the restaurant… What hurts me most is not what they took, but the condition of the house when I saw it. I had only seen something like that during the war.”
Things thrown on the floor?
“Yes, everything was broken and overturned everywhere,” Brava said.
The commander of the police station in Hani i Elezit, Lieutenant Nuri Dema, said the two burglaries involved the theft of gold jewelry and hunting weapons. In one house, about 200,000 euros worth of gold jewelry was stolen, while in the other around 50,000 euros. According to him, the third case remained only an attempt.
“Through this video we are informing about yesterday’s incidents that occurred on the evening of March 10, 2026. Three separate cases were reported: two are aggravated burglaries, while one is only an attempted burglary. The suspected persons entered the house, caused damage, but according to the owner’s statement they did not steal anything. In the other two cases, from one house two hunting rifles and gold jewelry worth around 50,000 euros were stolen, according to the owner. In the other house, gold jewelry worth around 200,000 euros was stolen. Police units have processed the cases and investigations are ongoing. We are cooperating with the prosecution, and today, March 11, 2026, the case has been handed over to the Serious Crimes Unit in Pristina. We are waiting for concrete findings,” Dema said.
So far, no one has been arrested in connection with these burglaries in the municipality of Hani i Elezit.
