The Strategic Dialogue with the US, Arifi: Kosovo is not progressing, it is too late

Political experts see the announcements for the finalization of the strategic dialogue between Kosovo and the United States of America as very positive, but also something that should have happened earlier.President Vjosa Osmani has confirmed that Kosovo and the US will soon finalize the strategic dialogue. This decision was confirmed after a meeting with the Deputy Secretary of State for Management and Resources, Richard Verma.
According to the political expert, Dritëro Arifi, it is a good attempt, but a little too late. Arifi told KosovaPress that Kosovo is not progressing and this is a way to fix the relations with the US.

Arifi: Kosovo is not progressing, we have damaged our relations with the US

“It is a little too late, after four years, to think of something that could have been done immediately after coming to power and I think it is a good attempt, but a little to late, although better late than never… It is more of an attempt to make her (Vjosa Osmani) seem positive, but not Kosovo, because Kosovo is not progressing. We have damaged our relations with the US and she (Vjosa Osmani) is trying to somehow repair them,” said Arifi.

According to Arifi, relations between the Presidency and the Kurti Government have changed for the worse, after Vjosa Osmani’s change in approach, due to the disregard shown to her by the governing cabinet.

Arifi: Everything was fine as long as there was harmony between the Government and the Presidency

“When the Presidency-Government relations were damaged, we have this change in the approach of Vjosa Osmani’s policy. This is too late and in a way it is being noticed that when there is no political vision, then political differences come to the fore. While there was harmony between the Kurti Government and the Presidency, everything was fine. The US in a way was not very right, between the lines, that’s what the president said when she saw that the situation was very serious and that the Government was ignoring the president, then the orientation changed”, said Arifi.

Political expert Arifi also emphasized the benefits of the strategic dialogue between Kosovo and the US.

Arifi: The strategic dialogue with the US brings positive things in many directions

“The benefits would be in many directions. Most importantly, it will confirm the continuation of the deepening of the strengthening of subjectivity and Kosovo in Western institutions, accelerated membership in NATO and recognition by the four EU countries, normally in relation to all the agreements that have been pledged and signed for Kosovo to implement”, emphasized Arifi.

Strategic dialogue is a process that the State Department in most cases develops with various countries of the world, with the aim of advancing bilateral relations.
