The Special Prosecution Office of the Republic of Kosovo (SPORK) filed today, at the Basic Court in Prishtina, the first indictment in absentia against the accused with the initials D.R. for rape during the war in Kosovo.
The Special Prosecution Office announces that against the accused D.R. it has provided evidence that, as members of the military reserve forces of Serbia, during the war in Kosovo, in violation of the rules of international humanitarian law, during a wide and systematic attack by the Serbian military, police and paramilitary forces, against the Albanian civilian population in the entire territory of Kosovo, knowing about the existence of such an attack, with the use of violence and other inhuman actions, committed sexual violence against a woman of Albanian nationality, who suffered physical injuries to her body as well as severe permanent psychological trauma…
