The Chamber of Trade and Industry Kosova during a meeting today with the Minister of Agriculture Faton Peci discussed the creation of strategic products, which would contribute to the creation of the quantity and growth of exports, the creation of a medium and long-term strategy for agriculture.
The Chamber of Trade emphasized that with the creation of strategic products, it would have a positive effect on the creation of quantity and the increase of export potential.
Also, the topic of discussion of this meeting was the change of some administrative instructions, that the subsidy of agricultural products should be done in quantity in all products, the Law on Agriculture and Rural Development and the Law on Forests, and finding a formula so that the agriculture sector function properly since Kosovo has a large capacity for the distribution of organic agricultural products.
Another issue of discussion was the regionalization of agricultural areas, which would affect the grant and subsidy schemes, which was considered one of the priority issues by both parties.
As for the scheme of grants and subsidies, it was emphasized that with the regionalization of the areas, it would be easier to orient them in different cultures according to certain areas. While the subsidy of chicken meat was considered very necessary in the next schemes.
Also, the double bank guarantee that some businesses are obliged to pay, including APK and KPMM, was also highlighted.
Minister Faton Peci said that most of the issues raised by the Kosovo Chamber of Trade and Industry are a priority of his program in this area, so they are working in this direction so that according to deep scientific analyzes they have the opportunity to make concrete proposals and implementations in good of the agriculture sector.
The Chamber of Trade thanked Minister Faton Peci for starting yield-based subsidies for some agricultural crops, being the first to practice this and Kosovo for the first time is subsidizing based on quantity and not surface area, which is a long-standing requirement of Chamber of Trade, requesting that other products be added to this list.
At the end of the meeting, both institutions agreed to increase joint activities in the future.
