On the 90th anniversary of the birth of the symbol of national resistance, Adem Demaci, the book “Journey with Adem Demaci” by Selatin Novosella was promoted.
At the ceremony, held at the Institute of Albanology of Prishtina, Novosella said he felt fortunate to have been close to Demaci. He noted that this was the first time he was reading one of his books in which Demac
“I was very fortunate to be close to Adem Demaci… The Ministry of Culture has declared Adem Demaci’s house a monument of cultural history. That house is collapsing. The house where he met diplomats, ambassadors, and journalists is now falling apart. Today, the books, which with great desire and hard work I have managed to bring into electronic form — 30 volumes — are only waiting for the day of publication and remain unpublished. Throughout my journey, which will be defined by books, I have dedicated 24 of them to Adem Demaçi. I read them not as my own books, but as books I look at with pleasure. Because he is not the man of prisons and hardships, but a somewhat different Adem,” Novosella said.
Academician Arsim Bajrami stated that they had gathered to honor an era of Albanian national consciousness. According to him, the three volumes contain history, political analysis, and an act of national remembrance.
“Today we have gathered to honor an era of Albanian national consciousness. At the center of this promotion stands the figure of Adem Demaci, the figure of political resistance. They constitute history, a political analysis, and an act of national remembrance. The third volume reflects the last years of Demaci. These three volumes present a moral biography of a nation. We honor the figure of Adem Demaci and the intellectual figure of Novosella,” Bajrami said.
University professor Begzat Baliu also assessed that Novosella’s fortune was that he lived close to Demaci.
“What fortune for the author to live near the family of Adem Demaci. It was Novosella’s fortune to live with Demaci even in prison. The first period of his writings begins symbolically with an anecdote about Demaçi. The author’s journey is completed with his illegal activities alongside Adem Demaci, with Demaci’s second arrest and the fate of the national movement. Both simultaneously became witnesses of history. Conversations about national activities in all fields, national unification, the Orthography Congress… The volumes are read in one breath, like the history of a novel,” he added.
So far, Selatin Novosella has published 24 books about Adem Demaci.
