Telecom workers protested because their salaries have not been executed

Post and Telecommunication workers of Kosovo have protested in front of the Telecom facility because their salaries have not been executed, since on February 29 of this year, this company’s bank accounts were blocked by the bailiff.

The Chairman of the Independent Trade Union Federation of the Post and Telecommunication of Kosovo, Lami Balaj requested that the bank account be unlocked as soon as possible so that the workers receive their salaries, because according to him they support their families with those means.

He asked the Commercial Court to come out with a positive decision regarding this matter, for which he says that the same workers have fought corruption and any irregularity within Telecom.

Meanwhile, the Telecom management say that the executors have offered the opportunity to make the payment in installments until the decision of the second instance comes, as was the agreement according to him. However, they add that their goal is criminal, because according to him they want to take more than 5 million euros from Telecom.

Balaj emphasized that if this situation continues, they will continue with protests in front of the government and the prosecutor’s office, while also mentioning the possibility of strikes.

Meanwhile, the financial director at Telecom of Kosovo, Feim Kelmendi, said that despite trying to find a solution for this situation, they did not find understanding from the other side until it is referred to the bailiff.

He expresses regret for the Telecom workers who have been left without salaries.

According to the Post and Telecommunication Union, nearly 2,000 workers have been without wages for more than a month now.
