This was stated to KosovaPress by the Director of the Police for the Prizren Region, Faton Alija, who said that the victim had injuries all over her body, but no blunt objects or weapons were found at the scene.

“Around 1 a.m. today, we received a phone report that a person might have died in a family in the village of Restelicë. Our units went to the scene and found the female victim at the house. According to ongoing investigations, the suspect in this case is her son, around 30 years old. The on-duty prosecutor for serious crimes was informed, and regional investigators, along with all relevant units and superiors, went to the scene. All investigative actions and examinations of the crime scene have been carried out. The suspect has been arrested, underwent a medical check, and, by prosecutor’s order, has been detained for 48 hours,” he said.

According to the Police Director for the Prizren region, no suspicious object, blunt instrument, or weapon was found at the scene. It is suspected that a physical confrontation, likely involving only hands, led to the victim’s death.

Alija emphasized that the 60-year-old victim had injuries on different parts of her body.

“Based on reports we received from investigators at the scene, no suspicious items, blunt objects, or weapons that could have been used to cause the death were found. It is suspected that a physical confrontation, using only hands, led to fatal injuries. It is worth noting that this family has four members, but at the critical moment of the incident, only the mother and the son were at home, as the other two family members were reportedly working abroad… (The victim’s age) around 60 years old, with injuries on different parts of the body, according to preliminary observations at the scene. The Institute of Forensic Medicine will provide the final report on the injuries and cause of death,” he said.

The Police Director for the Prizren Region, Faton Alija, also stated that according to medical reports conducted today, there are suspicions that the suspect has mental health problems.

He emphasized that the 30-year-old had previously been known to law enforcement for domestic violence, as cases were registered in 2021 and 2024, mostly within the family.

“The medical reports found by investigators, as well as the specialist medical examination conducted today at the Prizren hospital, confirm suspicions that he has mental disorders… As I said, this was a four-member family, and he has three previously registered cases, which were processed by the police, prosecutor, and court—in 2021 and the last case in 2024. All cases were prosecuted, and concrete actions were taken. His cases mainly involved assault or injury within the family,” he said.

The Basic Prosecutor’s Office in Prizren also announced this serious murder in Restelicë, Dragash.
