OVL-UÇK demands the immediate dismissal of Dimal Basha

The Organization of Kosovo Liberation Army War Veterans (OVL-UÇK) is demanding the immediate dismissal of Dimal Basha from the position of Assembly Speaker, as well as the initiation of investigations against him by the prosecutor’s office, as reported by KosovaPress.

At a press conference, the OVL-UÇK chairman, Hysni Gucati, said that categories of war veterans are calling on MPs to immediately remove Basha from the position of parliament speaker.

Gucati stated that the prosecutor’s office should launch investigations against Basha, citing his alleged involvement in special propaganda campaigns against the KLA and cooperation with suspicious individuals negatively affecting Kosovo’s integrity.

He added that if these demands are not met, OVL-UÇK will take further actions.

“The categories of war veterans demand that MPs of the Kosovo Assembly immediately remove Dimal Basha and initiate investigations by the Kosovo state prosecutor. The reasons are known: participation in special propaganda against the KLA and the Republic of Kosovo, and personal connections and cooperation with suspicious individuals, including collaborators from North Macedonia, negatively affecting the country’s development and integrity. OVL-UÇK demands full accountability and immediate actions from authorities to protect the truth and honor of the KLA’s struggle. If our demands are not met, we, as war veteran categories, are obliged to take further actions,” said Gucati.

Gucati emphasized that Assembly Speaker Dimal Basha cannot avoid responsibility for his writings merely through a statement. He noted that the organization does not have open doors for Basha.

“Mr. Basha is involved in the scientific work he produced. He cannot avoid responsibility with a statement trying to justify it… Mr. Basha does not have open doors at OVL-UÇK. Not only him, but people like him. They may have open doors in Serbia,” said Gucati.

Gucati also said that, apart from Foreign Minister Donika Gërvalla, there are other witnesses from the Vetëvendosje party in the Special Court, and he indicated that names will be revealed.

“In 2012, Dimal Basha co-authored a scientific paper claiming that the KLA cooperated with drug dealers. This is a lie or defamation, as is typical of LVV. In that political party, we know they also have witnesses in the Special Court, starting with Donika Gërvalla, who submitted documents at the time which she herself acknowledged. Others will come forward with names. We will no longer hide anything from anyone because we are not afraid of anyone,” said Gucati.

On Wednesday, media reported on a study co-authored by Kosovo Assembly Speaker Dimal Basha, which, among other things, contains writings against the Kosovo Liberation Army.
