The President of the country, Vjosa Osmani, stated that she has not yet read the article against the Kosovo Liberation Army (KLA), co-authored by the Speaker of Parliament, Dimal Basha. She said that, as President, she cannot deal with the works that Kosovo politicians produced at a time when they were students.
At a press conference, Osmani said that Basha has confirmed his respect for the sacrifice of the people of Kosovo in their fight for freedom and the just war of the KLA.
“I have not yet read it, I have heard the concerns, and I believe that the response he gave is the one you should take. Because as the country’s president, I cannot deal with the works that politicians of the Republic of Kosovo produced during the time when they were students. The Speaker of Parliament, Basha, has continuously confirmed to me his full and profound respect for the sacrifice of the people of Kosovo for freedom, for the just war of the Kosovo Liberation Army, and of course we will cooperate in protecting this war from ongoing Serbian disinformation and propaganda and from attempts to rewrite history,” she declared.
The head of state, Vjosa Osmani, added that in every meeting abroad she has raised her voice “against disinformation and attempts to tarnish the just war of the KLA.”
Regarding the article co-authored by the Speaker of the Assembly of Kosovo, Dimal Basha, war veterans’ organizations have repeatedly reacted. The KLA Veterans’ Organization (OVL-UÇK) has demanded his dismissal from this position and has also sent requests to parliamentary groups to initiate his removal.
Three years after the research titled “Globalization of the Western Balkans: Transnational Crime, Fundamentalist Islam, and Unjust Alliances”, Jana Arsovska authored the book “Decoding Albanian Organized Crime”, in which she linked the KLA to the criminal underworld. For the realization of this book, she thanked the current Speaker of the Assembly of Kosovo, Dimal Basha, who has claimed that he never read the “scientific research” against the KLA, explaining that he only wrote the third chapter.
Basha himself has stated that he requested the chapter he wrote to be removed from the book co-authored with Arsovska.
