President of Kosovo, Vjosa Osmani, stated that Kosovo approaches artificial intelligence with a clear vision and determination, emphasizing that the country is ready to fully embrace this technology through investments in skills, modernization of education, and the creation of a regulatory environment that encourages innovation while simultaneously preserving human dignity.
In her speech at the World Government Summit in the United Arab Emirates, Osmani highlighted that technology without values represents power without responsibility, and that artificial intelligence, if not properly guided, can deepen social divides. According to her, wise governance of this technology can expand opportunities, democratize knowledge, and elevate human potential, KosovaPress reports.
“Kosovo does not approach artificial intelligence with fear, hesitation, or half measures. We approach it with clarity and conviction. We are ready to embrace it wholeheartedly, to invest in skills, to modernize education, to open our institutions to innovation, and to create a regulatory free environment that encourages progress while (6:32) protecting human dignity. Because technology without values is power without responsibility. And AI, if left unguided, can widen divides. But if governed wisely, it can expand opportunity, democratize knowledge, and elevate the human potential,” she said.
President Osmani also spoke about building independent, professional, and resilient institutions, stressing that Kosovo is determined to preserve and strengthen them. She added that the country’s progress in these areas is increasingly being recognized internationally.
Osmani further emphasized that Kosovo today is more connected to the world than ever before, through the expansion of bilateral visa-free regimes, including with the United Arab Emirates, as well as through free trade agreements with the European Union, EFTA countries, Turkey, and other markets.
“Kosovo today is more connected to the world than ever before. Through an expanding network of bilateral visa-free regimes, including with the UAE here and many other countries, our entrepreneurs, innovators, and professionals are moving, connecting, and doing business with greater ease. Through our access to EU markets, EFTA countries, Turkey, and beyond, because of the existing free trade agreements, Kosovo-based companies operate within an economic space of more than 700 million consumers. This is how trust is built. And trust is the foundation of every competitive economy. The third pillar of next generation economies is a business environment that rewards initiative,” Osmani said.
