One Stop Shop becomes operational

At the joint border crossing between Kosovo and North Macedonia, Globoçicë–Jazhincë, as of today, citizens will be subject to the One Stop Shop entry-entry control regime.

The acting Minister of Internal Affairs, Xhelal Sveçla, stated that this system will help prevent any kind of cross-border crimes.

Instead of having two separate controls, we now have the entry-entry control regime at this border point as well, thanks to the cooperation between the two governments, the two ministries, as well as the police forces and customs services of both countries. I believe this will bring benefits to the citizens of both countries, especially to the residents of this border area. We are seeing very good cooperation between the two police forces to prevent any misuse or any violation of the law concerning the border, cross-border crimes, or any other type of illegal activity,” said Sveçla.

North Macedonia’s Minister of Internal Affairs Panče Toshkovski expressed hope that the opening of the One Stop Shop would lead to easier movement for citizens of both countries.

“What used to take a long time waiting in queues has now been reduced to a one- or two-minute wait, and it has visibly brought Skopje and Pristina closer together. Today, we are also bringing Tetovo closer. This proves that the two governments are working in the service of the citizens, implementing projects that facilitate their movement and the transport of goods. Here in Jazhincë as well, this is a contribution in the interest of the citizens and freedom of movement,” Mexhiti stated.

North Macedonia’s Minister of Internal Affairs Panče Toshkovski expressed hope that the opening of the One Stop Shop would lead to easier movement for citizens of both countries.

“It is a pleasure to inaugurate this border crossing point between North Macedonia and Kosovo, completing the border with Kosovo. With the opening of this border point, we have the opportunity for a faster transfer of citizens between our two countries, similar to what we’ve already seen at the Bllacë crossing, which has proven to be very functional in this way. I hope that this border crossing will also function just as well, enabling a faster transfer for our citizens, with the aim of ensuring better communication between the two countries,” said Toshkovski.

This joint border crossing is one of two joint border points foreseen under the Implementation Protocol of the Agreement between the Government of Kosovo and the Government of North Macedonia for the Joint Border Crossing Points Hani i Elezit–Bllacë and Globoçicë–Jazhincë, signed in November 2024 during the joint meeting of the two governments.
