Municipalities mobilize for Kosovo–Turkey match, some organize public screenings

On the eve of the highly anticipated match between Kosovo and Turkey at the Fadil Vokrri Stadium, various cities across the country have taken initiatives to enable citizens to watch the game in public spaces, creating a supportive atmosphere for the national team, reports KosovaPress.

According to available data, 12 municipalities in Kosovo have confirmed organizing public screenings in squares or shared spaces, while several others have yet to make a final decision.

In Ferizaj, an LED screen has been set up in the “Adem Jashari” square, where a large gathering of citizens is expected. In Drenas, the match will be broadcast in the “Fehmi and Xhevë Lladrovci” square, while in Gjilan, it has been announced that citizens will watch the game from the “Agim Ramadani” square. Meanwhile, in Deçan, the event has been organized by the youth center.

In Junik, organizers announced that “the broadcast will take place live in the Municipal Assembly Hall, where all interested citizens are welcome to watch this important match.” A similar arrangement has been planned in Kacanik, where the match will be shown on a big screen in the sports hall, as well as in Kamenica, where citizens will gather in the city’s sports hall.

Other cities such as Prizren, Vushtrri, Mitrovica, Obiliq, and Pristina have also confirmed public viewing events, expecting a large turnout of fans.

According to municipal sources, there is currently no organized screening in Dragash, Hani i Elezit, Podujeva, Rahovec, and Malisheva, while in Skenderaj it has been stated that no concrete decision has yet been made. Meanwhile, in Peja and Istog, according to local sources, the organization remains dependent on weather conditions.

KosovaPress has also attempted to contact the municipalities of Fushë Kosovë, Shtime, Gjakova, Klinë, and Lipjan, but no official response had been received by the time of publication.

Meanwhile, the Mayor of the capital, Përparim Rama, has invited mayors of other municipalities to organize large screens in their city squares so that all citizens can experience this symbolic night for Kosovo.

Rama also announced yesterday that, due to the Kosovo–Turkey match and increased demand for transport, in cooperation with Trafiku Urban, on March 31 and April 1, departures of line 1A Airport–Pristina and vice versa will run every hour from 06:00 AM to 12:00 PM to facilitate citizens traveling to watch the match.
