Lajçak: The report on the measures against Kosovo will be discussed tomorrow, I am in favor of their removal

The envoy of the European Union for the Kosovo-Serbia dialogue, Miroslav Lajçak, said the reason for his visit to Pristina today is to refocus on the dialogue process between the two countries.

In a press conference after the meeting with the Deputy Prime Minister, Besnik Bislimi, Lajcak said that they also discussed with him the EU growth plan, as according to him, this is a financial instrument that offers 6 billion euros to the partners of the Western Balkans. but for Kosovo and Serbia, this distribution of money is conditional on their constructive engagement in dialogue.

Meanwhile, when asked about Borrell’s report that he sent to the EU countries about the measures that Kosovo still has in place due to the tense situation in the north of the country in May and June of 2023, Lajçak said that the said report will be discussed tomorrow and then the journalists will be informed.

Lajcak also spoke about the opening of the Ibri bridge, saying that this is a matter of dialogue.

He said that the position of the EU is for the bridge to be open, but in such a way as not to escalate the situation, adding that he has proposed that this issue be discussed within the dialogue.

Asked about the possibility of imposing measures against Serbia after the Banjka attack in September of last year, Lajcak said that these decisions belong to the EU member states but that the bloc is committed to holding responsible all those involved in this attack.

The EU envoy for the dialogue, Miroslav Lajçak, emphasized that he is in favor of removing the measures against Kosovo and that he has repeated this to the EU countries, but that he himself is not part of this process.
