Acting President of Kosovo Albulena Haxhiu has appointed Zejnulla Gashi as Chief State Prosecutor.
Haxhiu said that after receiving the proposal and documentation from the Kosovo Prosecutorial Council, a careful and comprehensive review of the submitted materials was conducted, including relevant information provided by competent security institutions and reports from organizations that monitored the selection process.
“Taking into account the importance of this position and the need for the full functioning of justice institutions, I have acted in accordance with my constitutional and legal responsibilities. I wished Mr. Gashi success in carrying out this high state responsibility. The position of Chief State Prosecutor is one of the main pillars of the rule of law and the protection of the constitutional order. The fight against organized crime, corruption, the prosecution of war criminals, perpetrators of violence and crime of any form must receive a decisive response from the prosecution body,” Haxhiu wrote, reports KosovaPress.
She said she expects Chief Prosecutor Gashi to exercise this duty with high professional and moral integrity, impartiality and courage, always showing strong commitment to the state and citizens, and acting in accordance with the Constitution and laws of the country.
Zejnulla Gashi was proposed yesterday by the Kosovo Prosecutorial Council as Chief State Prosecutor, where he received five out of six votes. His predecessor in this position was Blerim Isufaj.
