Hodaj: PIK has recommended the suspension of 71 police officers during 2023

During 2023, the Police Inspectorate of Kosovo (PIK) received about 1,697 complaints from citizens, investigated 178 suspects, of which 156 were police officers and 22 citizens who were involved in joint cases with police officers, arrested 35 officers and citizens, and recommended the suspension of 71 police officers of various ranks and levels.

This is what the Chief Executive Officer of PIK, Kushtrim Hodaj, stated in the Commission for Security and Defense issues.

Hodaj said that the fight against corruption continues to be one of their priorities, therefore PIK has managed to increase the credibility of the citizens.

Asked by the chairman of this Commission, Bekë Berisha, about the issue of police promotion, whether they have taken investigative measures and how the process went, Hodaj added that suspicions of irregularities were raised in some classes where the test and dilemma about the rights or not of the application of a generation was held.

Also, Hodaj has emphasized that PIK has received a complaint from MIET (Ministry of Industry, Entrepreneurship and Trade), to verify whether the investigators who requested classified level documentation were equipped with necessary certificates or not.

For this, Hodaj emphasized that the documents were classified as secret documents.

While, regarding the inspection of the stations in Pristina, he has continued that it is in the process, while the police stations in other cities face a lack of technology, uniforms, patrols and many others.
