The leader of the Democratic Party of Kosovo (PDK), Bedri Hamza, said that the Kurti III Government is not focused on improving the standard of living, but on buying votes through public money.
He made the statement during a parliamentary debate on rising fuel prices, where a resolution had previously been proposed by the Democratic League of Kosovo (LDK) calling for government measures.
Hamza said they support any measure that improves people’s living conditions.
He also added that they support the LDK-proposed resolution for the temporary removal of excise tax until prices stabilize.
Furthermore, the PDK leader said that the latest report from the International Monetary Fund (IMF) confirms the lowest economic growth in recent years.
“We also have the latest report from the International Monetary Fund. It does not say anything different from what we have said here; it confirms it as well: economic growth for 2025 is estimated at 3.6%, which is the lowest in recent years. This level of growth is insufficient to address the needs and challenges of Kosovo’s economy. Worse still, the forecasts are even weaker, with 2026 projected at 3.3% growth. Inflation, or in simple terms: rising prices and the worsening of citizens’ living standards, the impoverishment of Kosovo’s citizens, in February 2026 compared to February of the previous year is 6%,” Hamza said.
