The Government of Kosovo, at its first meeting, submitted the draft law on the 2026 budget to the Assembly. Prime Minister Albin Kurti stated that the budget is valued at four billion euros.
This budget allocates 867 million euros for municipalities and includes the 13th salary.
Prime Minister Albin Kurti said that the 13th salary for public sector workers will be paid as soon as the budget law comes into effect.
“It is a budget worth 4 billion euros. For municipalities, 867 million euros are allocated. This budget also includes the 13th salary for public sector workers, which will be paid as soon as the budget law comes into effect,” Kurti said.
Finance Minister Hekuran Murati said that this 4 billion euro budget is financed by budget revenues of 3.64 billion euros, while the remainder comes from borrowing or other methods through the deficit.
“This is a draft law that was submitted according to legal deadlines, and as it could not be approved in the Assembly, we are resubmitting it. The 2026 budget draft amounts to 4 billion euros, financed by budget revenues of 3.64 billion euros, while the remainder comes from borrowing or other methods through the deficit,” Murati said.
At this meeting, the extension of the budget for the month of March was also approved, as provided by law, due to some payments that cannot wait for approval in two readings.
