The well-known singer, Besart Kelmendi, known as Gjesti, has been released from pre-trial detention.
This was confirmed to KosovaPress by the spokesperson of the Basic Court in Prishtina, Mirlinda Gashi, who said that after an assessment, “the reasons for which the pre-trial detention was imposed have ceased.”
This decision came following a request from the Basic Prosecutor’s Office in Prishtina to terminate the pre-trial detention, KosovaPress reports.
“Following the request of the Basic Prosecutor’s Office in Prishtina to terminate the pre-trial detention in the criminal case against the defendant B.K., the Court, after reviewing the Prosecutor’s request, has determined that the reasons for imposing the pre-trial detention have ceased, and therefore decided that the defendant should be released,” the statement reads.
Gjesti was released from pre-trial detention in Prishtina after being arrested for illegal possession of a firearm.
