The Basic Prosecutor’s Office in Prishtina, in cooperation with the Kosovo Police, is still conducting today’s operation in other municipalities across Kosovo regarding fraud in the process of issuing firearm permits, reports KosovaPress.
This morning, the Basic Prosecutor’s Office also carried out an operation at the Ministry of Internal Affairs, where two officials were arrested for the criminal offense of “abuse of official position or authority,” and at a shooting range of a business in Prishtina, where two individuals were arrested for the criminal offense of “accepting a bribe in the private sector.”
The spokesperson of the Basic Prosecutor’s Office, Kaltrina Shala, told KosovaPress that the two individuals arrested at the Ministry of Internal Affairs had issued firearm permits to citizens who did not meet the necessary legal criteria.
Meanwhile, the two others at the shooting range of the business have been detained for 48 hours.
“By order of the competent court, based on a written request from the State Prosecutor, an operation was carried out today at several locations, where so far four people have been arrested: two officials at the Ministry of Internal Affairs for the criminal offense of abuse of official position or authority, as they issued firearm permits to citizens who did not meet the necessary legal criteria, and two other individuals detained for 48 hours for the criminal offense of accepting a bribe in the private sector,” Shala said.
Shala stated that during the execution of the search warrant, the Kosovo Police seized necessary documentation, which will be used for further development in the investigative procedure regarding this criminal case.
Furthermore, Shala said that the State Prosecutor will submit a written request to the Basic Court for the imposition of security measures against the defendants.
“During the execution of the search warrant, the police seized additional evidence and necessary documentation, which will serve for further development in the investigative procedure regarding this criminal case. The State Prosecutor will also submit a written request to the Basic Court for the imposition of any of the security measures against the defendants,” she added.
The spokesperson of the Basic Prosecutor’s Office, Kaltrina Shala, explained when the operation of the Basic Prosecutor’s Office is expected to conclude.
“The operation has concluded at the Ministry of Internal Affairs and at the ‘Reload’ shooting range, while other operations are still ongoing and are expected to conclude shortly,” Shala said.
